Frogspit

A 1 track trip-hop single (3m 39s) — released September 22nd 2023 on Fingathing Federation

In 2021 Fingathing made a track using field recordings collected by a network of diverse local communities in Colombia's Neotropical forests. The track "After Dark" was released as part of a compilation album CUCUSONIC.. A collaboration with Colombian bio-scientists, anthropologists, 18 other musicians (including Coldcut, Matthew Dear, Laima Leyton, Igor Cavelera and Brian Eno), University of Manchester's 'Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology' and charity In Place of War

Fingathing were commissioned by Manchester Museum to make a track using the calls of ten Costa Rican frogs kept in their vivarium and "Frogspit" is the result.

After finding samples of a man pretending to make frog calls the stage was set for an absurd conversation between an interviewer, the man & the frogs. It may contain the world's first ever frog scratch & double bass solo!

Fingathing is Peter Parker and Sneaky.

Alone in the rain forest, with only an electric eel for power, Fingathing, driven by jazz juice squeezed from a toad, used the ensuing mind altering effects to communicate directly with an ensemble of Costa Rican tree frogs. This is the first time that toads, humans and tree frogs have collaborated on the creation of a record. The song has been banned in forty two countries. Why? You may ask. We believe it is because the song is too powerful. It could very well go off. - Mark Rae Grand Central
